Elements Excluded From Group - Impact on Model Health?

Hey, I'm working on a multi building residential project that uses model groups for unit repetition. We have a very strict workflow to maintain the stability of the model groups. Do groups with elements excluded have a significant impact on model speed? Should model groups with elements excluded be avoided? We are working in R2022, have there been any bugs of upgrades related to groups with elements excluded?

Thanks in advance,

Luke

I would say no, but you could test it yourself. Create a project and place many groups, then start excluding items and see how performance is affected.

As it is basically the same group of element with a simple yes/no to visibility of the different elements I am not expecting a big impact. I use groups with excluded elements and have not any issues with them. As I use them not in huge quantities I have no noticeable performance issues with them

Thanks for your insight @L.Maas any tips on how to measure the performance? File size, opening times?

No, Storage is usually not an issue. Opening is "one"time thing. It is more action like copying and pasting, zooming placing new (group) instances, opening views, basically all the things you do continuous throughout the day working in the project. (for example when you have a family with an instance array parameter) then change the array size, you will quickly see the performance drop as you increase the array size.)

If the groups themselves don't give you problems then the same groups with excluded elements don't either.
