Efficiently Update Area Plans

I'm working on a large project and I constantly have to get area numbers out to people and different groups care about different areas. Some measure to the outside face of wall, some to inside face of wall, some to inside face of knee wall, etc. Everytime some geometry changes I have to update all of the boundary lines. What is the quickest way to do this? I have been redrawing the boundary lines or using the align tool because the "Pick Lines" draw feature doesn't work that well. They're not easily edited and it doesn't always align to the line I need. I would love to set an area plan view to automatically align to "X" line.

You can set to pick walls and depending on the type of area your drawing is showing it will se;ect the core line of the wall (Structural face) or internal finish face of the wall. Pick walls allows to move walls and the areas will update with any change.

As with ceilings you can 'Lock' your area boundaries to the geometry (if you use Area Rules this will happen automatically).  You can do this either by using the pick lines tools with 'Lock' selected ( you need to uncheck Area Rules first) or you can align existing area boundaries and lock them in using the padlock.

However, as with ceilings this can lead to some heartache by errors produced when you move walls in such a way as to create boundary line with zero length.  I guess you just need to decide which path is the less painful...
