Editing linked architecture model visibility

I Have linked a basic architecture model rvt file into a Mechanical Project.

How can i get the colour to appear in the linked model as i would like to generate a render. At the moment the mechanical equipment and ducting i have inserted within the mechanical project are showing colour, but not the floors, walls etc of the linked model.

Please can anyone help?

Many thanks

You would have to check (open) the linked file to see if and how materials have been applied to the elements in that file. You might be able to use the visbility/graphics overrides in your file. But possibly you need to open the linked file and assign materials to the elements (or ask the creator to assign appropriate materials)

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.

You cannot override the materials in the host project unless you physically update the linked file material.  The linked file material definitions and assignments will determine the material appearance in the host project.

Transfer materials between projects. Manage > Transfer Project Standards > Materials.

From you screenshot I gather you only need to show the graphical colors and not the realistic materials of the link so there is no need to open the link and edit it.   But you need to change the view discipline from Mechanical to Coordination in order to see the colors and shading of non-mechanical elements.

Hi @Anonymous

Please check your view filters - in your VG overrides for the Mechanical elements you need to see in color.

Let me know if this helps.

1. in VG, fix the Discipline of the link.

2. Second option is you can use" 'by linked view " and use appropriate View of the link..

Thanks you so much.

I had the discipline in mechanical, and as soon as i changed to coordination the colours appeared.

Thank you all
