Edit Selection Preview space

Is there a way to change the space variable for the selection preview. I would like to be able to only have the selection preview activated for the object when my mouse is actually on the object, not as soon as it gets near it. Its difficult to select objects that are with-in close proximity of each other. I know I can tab through the objects, but that's not a natural and fluid drafting motion for me, I only prefer that when objects are on top of each other.

No. Zooming in on the area is a method be able to better target objects close together

Please mention Revit version, especially when uploading Revit files.
