Edit family parameters - Uneven scaling

Hi, I am new to Revit.

I am trying to edit this 2D Sink family because I can stretch one side of the countertop freely but the other one carries the sink with it, I want it to be independent. I am playing around with the dimensions and parameters but  can't get it to work. How can I do it?

Edit the family, remove the dimension string that goes from the edge to the center to the other edge.

Then add a new dimension from one edge to the center and make it an instance parameter. This will make there be a grip at the center line of the sink in the project and the end grips will not drag the sink with it.

This is a 2D Detail item is this what you really need?

Basically the 2D sink Group is locked to 2' from the left hand edge, so you would need additional parameters to drive the sink offset if required.

You would probably be better off using a 3D worktop and 3D sink cut out and it can be placed where you need and with show in Sections and Internal Elevations

Addional note: you put the center of counter at the origin of the family. It is more comfortable if the origin is on the left side of the counter, so that the counter stretches in one direction only.

This is my first project in Revit and I'm trying to figure out the furniture thing... 

I've downloaded some families from bimobject.com but started getting into a lot of trouble with countertops, dimensions of furniture in general, etc.

Then on a youtube video I found these 2D families, TBH not really need to show furniture in sections for this, so I thought it was easier.

Now I am considering going back to searching for good 3D families, but it seems such a time consuming task for this kind of project where I'm not looking to go so deep into interior design, just want to suggest the positioning of the furniture like in the original plans. I would appreciate some general advice on this.

You're spending time looking for families in other places, for simple things that the software already provides. How about just doing this: Insert > Load Autodesk Family > search for "counter" or "toilet", etc, find and select families and load into the project?

Do not use 2D as you have done the hard work in modelling in 3D, just add 3D elements throughout as this is what will be expected in a typical project
