Duplicating views problem

Hi,

So I'm currently working on an assignment that requires to submit different types of floor plans of the same space. I duplicated the original view selecting only duplicate and made 4 copies with the intention of customizing each as it relates to the plan type. I made changes to one plan making it a demo plan and all the other copies remained the same and no changes were made to them and the file was saved and ok.

However, when I opened the file again everything that was done on my demo plan was also done to the other copies. The only thing that was not affected in the copies were the furniture.

I really hope someone can let me know why the duplicate button did not work for me and this is not my first time using it.

Thank you for replying.

The information in the article was helpful and I understand what its saying. But my problem is I followed exact instructions in the article, saved the project and closed the file. When I opened the project the next day, everything that I did on my demolition plan view can be seen on all my other plan views. I thought this was weird because I knew I did it correctly. 

Just to be sure that I was doing the correct thing, I did it again and did what was mentioned in the article again. And I was right there is something wrong with revit when I duplicate. Because anything I do in the copy is also done in the original view and vice versa. So my question is what can I do to reverse this error or fix this bug?

When creating your "Demo Plan"--did you use Phasing? i.e. Existing Phase, New Construction Phase, Demo existing elements in New Construction Phase. Set up views with Phasing settings correctly?

So that could be why all that happened to the plan views?

Yes. The correct way to create Demo Plans is with Phasing as I mentioned above.
