Duct Setup Help for Newbie

I'm a complete newcomer to Revit and I'm hoping that someone can point me in the right direction. Using Revit 2016. I'm trying to do a model of part of the plant I work in and it involves doing runs of air extraction ducting. I've got steel columns etc in place and have imported some equipment from Inventor models cad files and I now want to connect and route some ducting. However, I can only seem to find 'Default' as a duct type and it won't seem to connect to fittings as the joints won't seem to make, it looks like they're different types. I have bends with a slip joint but no ducting with a slip joint that will connect, I can only find 'Default' as a duct type, it just throws up an error every time I try. I'm obviously missing something fundamental in setting it up to do work with ducting, can someone point me in the right direction please?

Many thanks in anticipation.

Hello,

Yes you probably miss somethnik fundamental.

You can make your own pipe type only with duplicate existing and change parameters.

When you choose your pipe type, you need to check routing reference. There must be set up all fittings and pipe sizes.

For connection with fixtures .... Fixture family must have placed connector.

Have so much information for this part of revit and have a huge amount of possibilities which can pop up those problem.

Check those base elements.

If you cant find/fix the problem ,share your file and i will help you with settings.
