Drawing/importing (skatepark) "bowl" shapes in Revit

Hello community,

 

I am architecture student interested in skatepark design and I am experienced only in autocad and Revit a little bit. Before I start learning it I want to know if it is possible to draw shapes that are curved, for example bowls like in this picture.

If it is complicated I would like to ask if you have any opinion, I am interested in exporting such structures from Sketchup but I am afraid of not being able to make detailed plans for construction after that in Revit because Ive read that you cant do much with models from Sketchup in Revit. For me this is quite a big problem because I am facing an oportunity to get my first project but the contractor wants BIM model, so I can not produce it in autocad or sketchup.

Edit: I checked the post but I still have one question about setting materials to designed skatepark with this conceptual masses, since I would need to send the whole project in revit to engineers and construction company after that and they need all the info in the model. If I draw for example bowl in revit with conceptual masses can I put materials and other specifications (for example reinforced concrete with specific rebar and also set the details of joints etc.)?

Conceptual masses are, like the name, for concept. They don't even appear in regular views unless you set otherwise. You want do do an in-place
component - I guess I show how to do it in the screencast in the suggested post. This in-place component can have a material.

As I was writing I remembered that you can do actually do with conceptual masses, but you will do a wall or roof by face to compose the "bowl". You
can even edit the assembling layers of this wall or roof, for example, to get wooden finish over a concrete layer. "But why I won't do a floor by face instead a wall or roof?" Because Revit simply don't build floors by face.

Ok, first thanks for fast response.

 

So If understand right both options would lead me to my wanted plan ready for construction or to send engineers to add other layers/structures? Sorry If I am repeating myself.

Kinda... "Ready do construction" depends on how detailed you'll model, but
I'm trying to give you tips for doing the real deal.

I have a similar question in regards to modeling a skatepark bowl. In the image above I have a plan and section of a bowl.  Lofting shapes b and c are not an issue for me however when I need shape a to "blend" together with them I am at a loss. The photo to the side actually shoes this blend in a similar bowl. Most of the modeling I do is in AutoCAD. Do you have a suggestion on how to create this blend or can you point me in the right direction. Your time and help is much appreciated.  Ryan Crane
