Door Schedule

I am doing a door schedule and i have my exterior doors labeled as EX-1, EX-2, etc. and my interior doors labeled as 101-1, 101-2, etc.  is there a way to get the Ex doors to appear first in my schedule and the interior doors afterwards?

A few options come to mind, but its hard to tell what's best without knowing how your model is set up.

The most straight forward that would work in any situation would be to add another parameter to doors that you can use to mark if they are interior or exterior. It could be a yes/no parameter or a text parameter. Then sort by that parameter.

Another one that would always work would be to actually use two schedules, and have one that filters in only doors that contain "EX" in their mark, and the other that filters out doors that contain "EX" in their mark.

Edit door types and assign Function as Exterior or Interior properly.  Then add Function parameter to the schedule and sort by it.

You can add a parameter that indicates exterior or interior and sort by that. You would have to manually set that for each door.

Or sort by door number and add an " INT" to the interior door names.

I think your best bet here is to make a new parameter, and sort all of your doors by that parameter.

What would be the parameter?  that is the issue that i am having as i have done that and it will not sort it.

It can be whatever you want, as long as you can apply logic to it to sort it how you want. Have you gone into the Sorting/Grouping tab in your schedule?

yeah I can not get it to work, i made a parameter called it order and assigned it to doors, if i set it as integer it does not sort it if I do it as text it does not sort it the way I need it too.

Can you send a screenshot of your sorting/grouping tab? And the schedule?

My schedule is pretty large so I only included a snippet of it.

Is the last parameter the one you are sorting by?

what do you mean?  I am doing it by order first as in I want to be able to set the b doors first then whatever is left to sort it by numerical order

You can't do that. Numbers come first, which is why some of us have told you to make a NEW parameter that determines how your doors are sorted. You can hide then hide the new parameter if you don't want it to show.

I have done it before i just do not remember how i did it, I was able to manually type in the order, as in 1,2,3,4, etc, and it would sort it, but i do not remember what parameter it was that I had made in order to do this.

You can literally use any text or integer parameter. All you have to do is add it to your schedule and sort by it.
