Is possible in Revit to create a generic model family that will be able to host a door?

Yes. Create a face based generic family and change the category to doors, then you can host it by a face of another generic family, or a face of anything else.

Yes. If you build a void and cut the solid in the face based door family. When you place the door on a generic model it will cut.

I want to place a Door face based generic face-based model into a generic model. This is so I can model clearances for the generic model (the generic model will represent an Air handler). The reason I want to use a Door face based generic model is so I can "walk" through it within Enscape.

The issues I am facing.
1. When I insert the DFBGM into the GM it won't show until I place a void in the DFBGM. I can't even give the DFBGM a material with a void on it.
2. I can't resize the DFBGM model in the generic model.
3. The DFBGM won't show in Enscape.

You only need a void in the DFBGM if you need to cut the GM with the DFBGM.  And you should be able to assign a material to the DFBGM even with a void.  Share the family here.

2. I can't resize the DFBGM model in the generic model.

Associate parameters of the nested DFBGM to parameters of the host GM.

3. The DFBGM won't show in Enscape.

Make the DFBGM Shared.

I've got the Clearance dropped into a Mechanical Equipment family just fine, and I've got sizing the clearance based on the WLH +1'. This is perfect. However the clearance family does not show on the plans. I want it show on the plans has red hidden lines and any time I try to put model lines in, some weirdness happens. So I'm not sure what's going on.

I have been able to get the DFBGM to show in Enscape AND it can be passed through. I've got a glass material set, but it still looks like it's a solid so again I'm not sure what's going on there.

So because it's a door family, the door category within Visual Graphics has to be turned on. I was also able to get rid of the void and create a clearance material that is completely translucent.

I got it working!!!
