Door frame cuts deeper than I need when placing on the wall corner

There is this wall corner I have in my design where I want to place a timber door frame family. The door frame family is placed in a 9" thick wall. I have drawn in red colour how I want it to be placed? I am planning to cut a void in the wall where there will be a rectangular timber piece as shown and insert an in-place rectangular timber piece. Can someone help me to solve this issue?

Move the door down?  The create an in place mode wedge piece if you need to, or just leave it at is then you have the bit of the wall left as the wedge.

You need to model that in the family

• A Custom Frame with that timber backing
• and a custom VOID extrusion to cut host at an angle instead of the Wall Opening tool which only cuts host orthogonally

It is simple...

• edit the family >>
• delete the Wall Opening (you should be able to tab select it) ...
• and create instead a void extrusion which has a trapezoidal shape (cuts wall at an angle)
• Make another extrusion for the timber subframe

Hi,

I've tried what you suggested. In fact, I added a parameter to control that angle baking.  But when I try to add it to the project there is a problem of determining the exact angle and entering the value onto the parameter. It results in a slight change and an unwanted line in the wall like in the attached image. Can you please help me on this too?

If you want the angle to be  parametric, you will need to use a reference line or  the face of a revolve...it will not work with a reference plane...

No access to a workstation at the moment, once I do, I will put something together for you to check.
