Display Generic Annotation in Plan and RCP for Exit Sign Family

I have two families. One is a face based exit sign, a lighting fixture. The other is the plan annotation for an exit sign which is family category Generic Annotation. I put the generic annotation family in the lighting fixture plan view. The generic annotation shows up in both the plan and RCP in the family. When i work in my project file the generic annotation only shows up in the RCP. How can I make the annotation show up in plan as well? Family attached.

Because it's a ceiling mounted light fixture, make sure your view range/cut planes are high enough to capture the family at the ceiling height. Default floor plan top of view range is only 7'-6". Ceilings are usually higher than that.

I tried that, but the only problem is then all my other ceiling things are showing in my floor plan.

What we've done at my firm is use a model invisible line and draw a line away from the exit sign so the plan picks it up that the model is there and displays it. PROBLEM IS...... when I use the Revit path of travel tool, it tries to go around the exit signs.... We don't really use that line anyway.
