I have started work this morning on a 2017 project and keep getting a Display Error, see Snip below

What has to be done so that I can actually do some work?  Anyone got any ideas please?

that is a very generic error.  Try the following:

1.  Update graphics driver to latest driver from computer manufacturer...see if error comes up

2.  If error still shows, try reverting back to original graphics driver from computer manufacturer when system was built

3.  If error still shows, try going to autodesk website for that particular graphics card to verify it is compatible.  If so, download the driver from them

4.  If error still shows, try turning off Use Hardware Acceleration within Options of Revit

Will try that if it happens again but so far it has not reoccurred. Thanks

I am having the same problem today but I cannot get any 3D view to open.  Have switched Hardware Excelleration off with no change but on turning Revit 2017 off I have a dialog with the heading "C:\Proram Files\Autodesk\Revit 2017\revit.exe"  and the  'i' message, "adui21res.dll not found".  Is this relevant can anyone tell me?

An update for anyone interested.  I continue to get this problem and find that if I close Revit and open it again the problem does not reappear and the required views open with no issue.....weird.

Have you tried doing a repair on your Revit?

If not, try that and then try a reinstall if repair does not work.

Lastly, try a clean uninstall using the Autodesk Uninstall Tool

That is interesting.  No, I have never tried doing a repair and have just failed to find mention of a Revit Repair in the help files.  How do you go about doing a repair please?

Thanks for your help.

Go to Control Panel in Windows, Add/Remove Programs, select Revit and choose change/repair...

Setup window will start up and you can pick Repair first....test issue after the repair.

If this does not work....

Go thru same procedure but pick Reinstall...test issue after the repair

If this does not work...

Make sure you have Revit installation files handy to reinstall clean.  Make sure you have your serial number and product key as well.

Go to Start, Programs, Autodesk, Autodesk Uninstall Tool.  Put a checkmark in the Revit box and all programs related to Revit as well (add-ins, extensions, etc.).  Click OK to uninstall (this is a clean uninstall).

After a clean uninstall, reboot your machine, turn off antivirus, then install Revit again.

I will try the repair, thanks. Thought that you meant that Revit itself had a magic repair operation rather than doing it through windows. Will try an avoid a clean install if I can because of all the associated hassles relevant to registration, file locations etc..

Repair didn't work sadly so I did what I usually do and closed and reopened Revit.  This worked again but on closing Revit I got the missing adui21res.dll file dialog (see below) which I have reported elsewhere on this forum, I think; might they be related issues?

definitely sounds like an installation issue...do a reinstall then a clean uninstall if necessary...also do a material library reinstallation prior to clean uninstall.
