Dimensions are going to the center of the window and not the side

Hello, I have been working on this building and putting in hundreds of window.  I have been dimensioning to the sides of the windows and been able to edit the distances so the windows are equal distances apart.  Just now I can dimension the windows out, but when you click on a window it ignores my line and dimensions to the center.  Revit will only let me edit the dimension to the center and not the dimensions that I snapped to.  Now I have to drag the center dimension to each side of the window to be able to put the correct spacing in.  That is going to take way too long.  I may have hit a "hot key" accidentally, but I can't find any help or solutions in forums I've been reading for the past couple hours.

Does anybody out there know how to fix this issue?

Thank you,

You dimensions probably snap to the edges of the wall opening, not the windows themselves.

someone might have dragged those temporary dimension to the centre..

just drag them back to edges and you will see the dimensions same next time..

No, when I hover over the line is says I'm selecting the window. I have to
manually drag the dimension nodes to the sides again as shown in the image.

Hover over what line?  I am talking about the black dimension string.  Try hide a window see if that dimension string remains intact or it changes.

Hey ToanDN,

I was talking about the edge of the window, it tells me that is what I am selecting it.  I didn't explain that very well, sorry.  The dimension string you see (in the white boxes) are what I dimensioned and are in the correct spot.  When you hit escape and click on a window to edit the distance, Revit puts the editable dimension string (that is the thin blue line) at the midpoint of the windows and not at the sides of the window where I selected.  So for each time I need to move these windows into place on this high rise I am building, I a have to move the blue dimension lines to the side.

I think I had to have hit a hotkey, but I don't know what.  I started a new file and everything is working as it should, no problems.  I don't get the dimension string in the white boxes in the new file I opened and I am my black dimension string is back.  I attached a file to show you the correct way it should function.

Thanks,Revit Dimension Error2.png

The temporary dimension string (center to center) always shows when you select a window.  But if your permanent dimension string placed using the edges of the windows as the witnesses then they should also be highlighted for you to change.  If that is not the case you are seeing then I am at lost here.

Thanks for your help and working on this with me.  For some reason, Revit is only doing temp dimensions and not permanent dimensions.  I used the DI command and then tried linear and other dimensioning types and no go.  Before I posted here I had a guy helping me with 7 years Revit experience and he was watching my screen what was going on.  Even he was baffled and couldn't figure it out.  Since it works in new projects I am not going to worry about it too much.  I'll finish this one up and be good with it.

Thank you again for your time,

Colby
