Difference between the 2 .rvt items in a graphics override?

Capture.JPG

[Apologies in advance: No idea what to call this to search for it]

When editing in a view template, linked models come up with 2 .rvt's with the same name indicated, as a Parent and Child.

I'm not clear on the different behaviour of each, to be editing either to get  (or avoid) a particular result.

Could someone enlighten me on this?

Hi, the link you provided was regarding linked DWG's / CAD files, this is a Revit file.

Found the solution though: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2021/ENU/Revit-C...

One is the link file, the other is the link instance.  There can be more than one instances of a link.  In such case, you can override them independently.
