Devastating lag out of nowhere when switching to thin lines or working in detail

Yet again Revit has started acting up right before a huge office deadline. I swear this program knows when to f@#$ with you. No other user in the model is experience this problem except me. Basically out of nowhere, Revit 2017 starts to lag when I try selecting anything in a detail view or it can be triggered by turning thin lines on I think. Who knows. The problem is fixed temporarily by repairing the Revit program but anything can trigger the lag again it seems. I can move fluidly in 3d even when the lag occurs in other views. If anyone knows of anyone else having similar issues or knows of a potential solution, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi @gnarkill283

Sorry to hear that you are facing issues with the software.

The first thing I would recommend is to check your Revit 2017 for latest updates from the Autodesk Desktop App.

Second, disable any 3rd party add-ins to improve the performance

Can you just have a 2D element in place of detail line? Did you convert a view specific detail line to a model line or vice versa?

Is this issue specific to a view/ user? If so,

  • Create a new view and delete the original view (duplicating the view will also duplicate any errors in the view).

Can you share a journal and file to test this behavior? I can share a private folder to test.

Regards,

I just updated Revit maybe a few months ago. The good news is the problem seems to be resolved after repairing of the program.

@gnarkill283 Good to hear that the repair helped resolve the issue.

Also, if you have a lot of detail line groups then it slows down Revit. If the problem persists, then export these lines to dwg and link them back in Revit in views where you require them.
