Hi!!! See the image, the dash lines are not visible beyond the border of the crop, mas visible inside the drawing.

All the categories annotation are visible in VG...

Is Annotation Crop turned on in the view?

If you uncrop the view, do the lines appear?

If you are trying to draw 2D Detail lines outside the crop region, they will not appear, as this is intended behavior.

Make the crop larger, draw a masking region cover the area you don't want to show the model, the draw lines over that area, on top of the masking region.

I have known this for years, but it was a poor decision by the programmers from the beginning.
Model Lines should be cropped like other model elements are, by the primary Crop Boundary, but Detail Lines should behave like other annotative elements and only be cropped by the Annotation Crop
That little trick about having to add a masking region should just not be necessary.

This is made even more frustrating by the fact that the 'rectangle' or 'sketch' is reflective of the 'crop region' so when you stretch it out to show the annotation lines you get this overly large area that you then have masked off making it confusing.
I have been design/drafting for 30 years, but am new to Revit. I am finding it very hard to know when I am doing it wrong and when it's just half-baked software. Glad I found this thread, I know the answer this time.

Consider using grid lines or leaders of empty text instead of detail lines.  Those can show outside of a view crop region.

When I select Annotation and the Annotation ribbon goes active, I consider everything there to be a part of annotation. So when I draw a detail line, which is a type of annotation, I expect to see it in the Annotation Crop view region. It's just stupid that Revit only considers text as proper annotation to be displayed in the Annotation Crop area and all others are not allowed. What about it Revit? Will you fix this?!
