Deleting a Level - Revit 2016

I can't delete 2 levels from my Revit model. I deleted the level mark from elevation view but the levels still shows in the relevant drop down menus. I created a level schedule and tried to delete the levels from there but it did not work.

I suspect the reason why I can't delete these levels is because they came with the template I used from Revit. Instead of modifying the template levels, I created new levels to suit my job and the template levels became redundant. Unfortunately I can't get rid of them now.

You should be able to delete levels, even from a standard template. You only can not delete the last level.

Maybe those levels are pinned/locked?

Please could you tell me how to lock/unlock level. I can only lock/unlock the level mark displayed in section and elevation view. I do not have level marks for the levels I am trying to delete.
thank you

You don't see the marks for the Levels in an Elevation view or a Section view?

Then they are either:

1. Hidden in the view. Use the Reveal Hidden Elements toggle button (the little light bulb icon along the bottom of the view window) to display all hidden elements and see if they show up.

...or...

2. Outside the crop boundary of the view. Turn off the view's crop boundary and annotation crob boundary (using the parameters for the view in the properties browser when the view is active but nothing else is selected) and then Zoom to Fit so that you can see the entire extents of your whole project. Do they show up now?

...or...

3. Both of the above.

If all else fails, select one of the Level marks that you can see, right click, and look at the very bottom right-hand side of your Revit window to see how many items are selected. While holding down the shift key on your keyboard, UNselect all the Levels you want to keep. Are there still two items selected even though you've unselected all the visibile Level marks? Now press the Delete button on your keyboard.

It worked! I selected all levels, unselected the levels that I needed and pressed the delete button. The redundant levels were gone! Thanks a lot for your help! 🙂

...I had left out the bit that should have said, "...select all instances in the project..." but I'm glad you figured it out.

Thanks mate. The last option helped me find those levels. Some times while creating a level we unknowingly create it in the same place and don't find it in sections / Elevations. Had to hide each level individually to identify where it is.....
