Delete layer in Edit Wall Type

What does it mean when the “delete” button in the wall Edit Assembly Type window is grayed out? Or the better way to ask it is "Why is it grayed out"?

You are dealing with a compund wall. This measn that one or more wall layers are split into sections.

Set your view to Section and you will see something like the screenshot.

Merge the regions to be able delete the layer
