Delet garbage from our Revit Project Templates

Hi @ all.
I would like to delet garbage from our Revit Project Templates.
For Example System Family Level:
I’m unable to delete unused Family-Types. In the Property Browser I can select and duplicate Types but not delet them.

A other one: Object Styles.
I'm not able to delet Categories from imported Objects.
It is possible to delet Subcategories but not the Maincategories.

Do anyone have a solution for this ?

Thank You in Advance !

Kind regards, Bernhard

Do a Purge and check the ones you wish to delete.  If you cannot check any items (grayed out) then they are in one way or another.

Hi ,

Please can you clarify your answer a little bit ?

=>Object Styles == not shown in "Purge unused"
=>Family Types of Levels == not shown in "Purge unused"

Kind regards,

Bernhard

For Object Styles you have to delete them directly. Only user created subcategories can be deleted.

For Levels, you need at least one type so Revit does not allow you to delete the last type.

Hi again !

For Object Styles you have to delete them directly => How I have todo this ?

For Levels, you need at least one type so Revit does not allow you to delete the last type.  => This sounds like the Revit Help file :). Not verry helpful.

I've more than one type. Only two of this types are in use. The other ones are unused. I'm unable to delet them. There is no Delete Button. 😞

Open the Object Styles table and delete whatever you can. None of the OOTB can be deleted though.

Maybe you should share the template file for a better understanding.

If you Purge your template then at least some of imported categories will be gone.

Revit add-ins: CAD Purger (delete UNUSED and selected line patterns & line styles, find and delete CAD), Rooms To Spaces, Schedule Utilities (Calculated Values/Combined Parameters To Tags, reuse view filter rules in schedule filters), View Filter Manager at Revit Apps Store

When it comes to templates, I much prefer to start from scratch than trying to clean a bad file.

Drafting is a breeze and Revit doesn't always work the way you think it should.

@B.Fetzer

You can Purge the unused Levels under Annotation symbols, see below:

One can, of course, begin with a completely blank project file instead of a template file. This would be as empty as is possible. Anything in such a file is a basic necessity and hardwired into Revit. There is nothing left to delete or purge in such a file.

One could even save such a file AS a new template to use again, although it seems kind of silly, since you can just choose to start without using a template anyway.
