default railing missing

Hello,

after experimenting a bit (evidently incorrectly) with staircase construction, it is impossible to use the stairs command with the default railing construction. I currently only have the option of a family of railing downloaded and imported

Is there any way to restore the default settings or bring back the original railing profile?

Thank you so much.

It you start a new project can you copy and paste a default stair/railing back into this project?

If it is the template that has been edited there is are Revit.rvt files which contain a lot of Stair and Railing examples.

The folder is located in the default family folder and is called System Families and once opened you could copy and paste it from here into the template and override the problematic family.

hi jay! Thank you for your reply!
If I start a new project and use the stair command, I can effectively draw a default staircase provided with a default railing.
So what can be the correct way to bring this same default setting back to all projects?

Hi,

if you can create a new project with the default railing this would indicate that the Template is fine and using the default version.

Therefore for existing or other projects which don’t have this railing you can just copy (CTRL+C) the default railing and paste it into these projects to override the railing here.
