Cutting Openings in Walls

I have been following a tutorial about wall modifying. I noticed, it seemed that to add openings into a curved wall, you use "modify wall / wall opening", but you can't use this to work with straight wall, because "wall opening" is gray when you pick a straight wall, it seems you can only use "edit profile" to cut openings in a straight wall. Am I right? Thanks!

Nope.  Wall Opening can cut straight or curved walls.

But whenever I click a straight wall, the wall opening button is grey out, I am using 2016 version, so what has happened ?

Don't highlight the wall.  Click on the Wall Opening tool on the Ribbon first, then select the wall to cut.

sounds like the wall's profile is edited. Access wall opening tool from Architectural tab instead.
