Cutting Object lines

Working in Elevation. 

I want to draw as few lines as possible. 

Oftentimes, changing the lineweight of an object's edge results in changing an entire line, when I only want to change a part of this line. 

Is there a way to cut the edgeline of an object only?

On the "Modify" tab use the "Linework" tool to change the lineweight of an edge and adjust it to where you need it to be using the blue adjustment grip.

Try it and let me know if it helps.

Utilize joining geometry of adjacent/overlapping elements can eliminate abundant of unwanted cut lines and create a nice shrink-wrap outline of the joined elements.  And yes, the tip about stretching modified linework above is a good one.

My point is that the handles o not seem to show up consistently. They are there 80% of the time. No idea why.
