Cutting Adaptive Components hosted in Mass

I have made a mass using splines in Revit that trace a form in a Rhino model. I divided the surface using intersecting planes. Then added an adaptive component. But at the edges I had to extend the mass form so I can find out the location for the 4th adaptive point to host on. Then I added a void to cut out the adaptive components outside the mass but it cuts the mass and not the adaptive component as shown in 3D view.

How can I cut off the extra parts of the adaptive component?

Had similar issue long back. Please see the attached file for the solution.

Cause of problem- 

Adaptive component is generic model paced in mass family. Inside of mass family a void can only cut the another mass. Never a generic model.

Solution-

Create the mass which you want to cut as a separate mass family and put that to a workset which is always hidden (for example “reference Geometry”). Cut the new mass family with your mass which is hosting adaptive component.

It's not very clear for me, but if the problem is the pattern not adapting to the edges of the surface: Select the pattern. Go to properties. Find the "Border Tile" option, and set that to "partial". Seems that you have that setting in "empty". Sometimes setting this property to partial leaves some parts that do not clean up properly. In those cases you might need to complete that with an additional smal surface.
