Cut plane unaffected by view range

I have a drawing attached to this post. In the drawing we see that above the range stove, there is a cabinet. I would like to change the drawing so the cut plane is below the cabinet. As seen in the screen shot, I set it to 4', below the cabinet. This commanding of the view range does not seem to be able to effect the fact that I do not want to see what is above 4' in the kitchen family. I also have set the cabinet above the range to not be viewed in plan in the VG settings. I am clueless as to how to get the whole range to show for my marketing drawings without botching the model and deleting things.

Can someone tell me how to control my visibility better? Do I have to break apart the family?

Edit the casework family, select the geometry or linework presents the casework on plan, Edit Visibility/Graphic Overrides and tick Show only if instance is cut.
