hello,  these are some adaptive component,  I wanna trim them all by the upper generic form which is a box. I know how to cut one by one. I have hundreds of them actually which I showed are only few. Is there a quick way I can cut them once?

RhinoInside can generate the surface in Revit BUT the pattern/divide surface you will need to apply one from the Revit built in templates. It will not be the pattern you shared earlier.

Forwarded you the download link for the Dynamo Graph

Hi, ToanDN, i still can not get same result as your showed. Could you save an ifc file. Then i try to open you file in 2021, or please you make more screenshots to show your process of modeling?

ah i see, I am not sure rhinoinside allows me to create the adaptive components hosted on a divided surface/pattern,I will check it out. It seems the dynamo player is what I need, but it is not in my dynamo player list, where I can find it?

I placed it on a grid out of habit working with mass and adaptive components.  It is not required.  See below.

  1. well, i really don't know which step i did wrong, I tried generic model family which doesn't allow me to load adaptive components, then I tried the  adaptive component nested the same adaptive component, then I load it in a project, i can select the adaptive components as a whole, but i can not cut it as a whole. I will chose a today to update my rvt and check your file. Thanks x))

Do not use CUT, cut WILL NOT work without a divided surface hosting the components ... the workaround is to use JOIN Geometry

Wow that is a big difference. I have left from the office, I will check it when I access my PC again, thanks again, also the dynamo x)

Looks wise, pretty much the same...the principle is different.

  1. Cut can slice and creates face(s) subtracting one geometry from the other (A from B or B from A),
  2. while Join is a Union...ie: Creates a joined geometry consisting of both A and B...making one invisible leaves you with the other

If one is not using the output for other purpose, one would not notice or know what the difference is.

I used these steps:

1. open the adaptive component family [pentagon pattern] and uncheck Shared

2. Load it in a conceptual mass family and place multiple instances.  I placed them manually because I don't use rhinoinside.

3. load the conceptual mass family in a project

4. Create an in place mass, finish the mass

5. Cut Geometry: select the pattern mass first then the in place mass

Which version of Revit are you using

Below  is the model you uploaded...Geometries are JOINED not Cut...additionally, using the same model it is pretty much clear that cut does not work regardless which is picked first.

How about you demonstrate that in a screencast because now I am quite curious how it works at your end

Screencast showing Cut geometry.

I don't oppose to using Join geometry.  Whatever work we can use.

I am shocked!!...I am also using 2022.1 in the screen-capture and cut does not work regardless which is picked first!!

Which edition is that? the Not for Resale one or the normal commercial license?
