Cut & Join command, calculating resulting square footage

We are using Mass family elements for conceptual design in Revit.  I am wondering if anyone has found a way to allow for Revit to calculate the resulting square footage of 2 masses which may be Joined or Cut?  Perhaps a crazy question, but thought I'd give it a go.

I don’t think it’s crazy at all; kind of what we’re already able to do in Revit with cut/fill scheduling. Perhaps, there’s a cross-purpose use for this tool. Let’s keep the conversation going. I’m intrigued.

Do a mass family. Then, load it into a project. Then select the mass and create mass floors. Then, do a schedule of mass floors to find the resulting areas.

Alfredo - You are correct and that is the easy part.  But now load your two separate mass families, we have developed various form shapes, they are set to Mass Floors, we can adjust the X, Y, Z, SF etc.  Once you have more than loaded - "smash" two of them together and use the Cut command, allowing one to cut into the other.  A subtraction has just occurred on one of the masses BUT the floor area for the now cut mass reads the same floor square footage as if it were not cut.  It seems logical to me that if we Cut or Join two masses the program should be able to extrapolate the new SF.  Perhaps somebody has written an addition to the API for this?  I'm exploring via Dynamo currently - may take a while.
