hello, please refer the below link.

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/revit-products/learn-explore/caas/CloudHelp/cloudhelp/2014/EN...

My question is how to change the grid orientation (Making the top as center not edge). mt model is more like ellipsoid.

The mass family is in the attachment.

Thank-you in advance.

Draw your "egg" on a different work plane.

I hadn't noticed that you posted your file. I just downloaded and examined it.  It is definitely a bigger challenge than I first thought.  I don't know that it is possible with that shape.

Wracking my brain right now.

Divide the surface using intersecting reference planes.

I gave it the old college try. I can't get there with your egg shape.

Hi

no pattern can achieve that result.. only option is to use reference planes..

As @ToanDN mentioned.. create Reference planes on plan..

and then Use " Intersects List"

Are you sure? I couldn't get Intersects to make that Divided Surface.

I think the trick was to copy the REFERENCE PLANES CENTER ( Front / Back ) or CENTER ( left/Right )

using new reference planes it doesnt work it seems

I think the best possible solution is a "donut" shape.

Ellips_repeater_04.JPG

On the ref. level draw 2 ellipses , 1 for the outline , 1 for the gap.

Create Divided Paths from those ellipses.

Ellips_repeater_01.JPG

Make a 2 point Generic Model Adeptive family of a halved ellipse, and place on the divided paths.

Ellips_repeater_02.JPG

Make a repeater to create the "skeleton" for your shape, and remove repeater.

Make the 4 quadrants into a surface.

Ellips_repeater_03.JPG

Chop the ends from the resulting shape.

Select the joined geometry faces and make a Divided Surface.

I tried to do the same but i am not able to create quadrants and I need it to divide it into 16 parts not 4.
Is their a way to divide path in equal angle not in equal length.

thank you.

That why you need to use reference planes.. array in equal angle ..

to make the quadrant:

select a number ( in the example 9 ) adjoining instances of the 2 point Generic Model Adeptive family of a halved ellipse, and [ Create Form ]
