Is there a way to edit a railing family so a toe-kick extends beyond the outermost posts as shown in the attached screenshot?

use the Handrail 1 option and set it to the level of the toe kick.

not a problem.... i always tell my staff to consider what a tool does, not wat its called, and you will find all sorts of uses for it. just because its a "Hand Rail" doesn't mean it cant be used as somthing else 😂.
