Hi,

Im trying to create a custom 'Fill Pattern'. but when i tried opening the "PAT" files all i saw was text & numbers. Is there a way to draw something & save it as a pattern?

Thanks.

Autodesk has always left this task to others such as HatchKit, hatch22, Pyrevit, pattycake and a number of AutoCAD-hosted generators.

The text and numbers you mention are explained in comments to be found at the head of the standard file revit.pat and discussed in more detail here:

If you post a description of the pattern you seek this board will probably be able to assist you.

Hey @Anonymous! - Check out www.pattycake.io

We built Pattycake to do this exact thing. With Pattycake you can draw directly in your browser, or use CAD to create a DXF file and upload it. We also offer 15 templates for commonly needed pattern types. No install required and not version specific.

Create a free login and you also get instant access to 400+ library patterns (which might negate the need to draw anything in the first place) 🎂 Happy Pattycaking!
