Custom Boundary linked to custom area type

Hello - I'm working Revit 2022. Can I link custom boundary rules to a custom area type? (*when I manually pick lines to designate a space after unchecking "Apply Area Rules").

To clarify: I've created a custom parameter "TEXT" type in Schedule properties to create a custom area type I call "Building Support" and applied this in the properties panel to the highlighted custom boundaried area. I am hoping that the boundaries I laid down after unchecking Apply Area Rules will be "remembered" and applied every time I choose the custom area type for a highlighted area.

I noticed that the 2024 Revit "what's new" states: "Area Boundary position updates in accordance w/ Area Type changes." Does this mean that Revit will do what I'm asking above in the newest version?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't think so.  Revit will use the last used boundary type regardless of area type.

The feature that you mentioned, if I understand correctly, is already there in previous versions, as long as I remember.  When you change an area to a different area type, it's boundary lines, if you used pick wall to draw them, will shift to match the type designation (from face of wall to center, for instance).

Sounds like you simply added a Project Parameter to Area Properties. A Text Parameter. Meaning that you can add alphanumeric characters into that Parameter Field, such as "Building Support" or whatever.  That is all that field is good for. There is no "link" being made by that Text Parameter - nor can a "link" be made with that Text Parameter. Text Parameters can't be used in Formulas.
