curtain wall mullions not accepted as mullions when loading family

hello, I'm trying to load a curtain wall mullion into my revit file because there are none loaded. I'm selecting the mullion tool, then when asked to load a family, I'm selecting PROFILES - CURTAIN WALL - and then choosing one of the files titled "Curtain Wall Mullion - Rectangular..."

After I do this I get the error message that says "some or all of the families selected are not of the category Curtain Wall Mullions."

please advise on how to fix this.

Load the profile family using Insert > Load family.  Then create mullion types using profile types from that family.

Then use Mullion tool to place them on curtain walls.

Sounds like you're missing the system families for mullions. You can't add those via the insert load family. You can add profiles that those system families use to define their shape.

You need to open a project or template that still has those families. Select a Curtain Wall Mullion family, expand to see its type(s). You can right click on a type and use Copy to Clipboard. Then back in your project, the one they are missing in, click in the drawing area and use CTRL + V (paste). Repeat that for each of the mullion types.

You can also use Transfer Project Standards and select Curtain Wall Types. Another way is to create a quick curtain wall that uses all the types you want and use CTRL + C (copy clipboard) and then CTRL + V (Paste) the whole wall into the project, it will bring along the "parts".

These are the stock mullion families (imperial template)
