Curtain System By Face

Just created an extrusion and used it to create a curtain wall by face.  How do you change the material of the panels?  I can only see System Panel Glazed or Solid under Construction within the Type Properties.  I thought you could select the panel and change its colour ( I need green glass for part of this ) and change the solid panels to other materials like steel or wood ( as if it was cladding, etc ).  There isn't even an option in the main properties tab to change material.  Maybe I created it wrong?

You can change the panel your curtain wall is using through it's type properties under "Curtain Panel". The drop-down box lists all the panel types available to use.

As far as for changing material of the Glazed or Solid system panel, that is done through the type properties for the panel itself. Three approaches to do this: 1) Tab select on the curtain wall to highlight the panel and then click on Edit Type under it's Properties, and then change it's Material. 2) Locate the panel in the Project Browser, select it, and then right-click and select Type Properties. Change it's Material. 3) Modify the current material being used used by the Curtain Panel through the Material Browser.

In order to overide some material panels, you can ,using TAB, select the panel(s) you want, Unpin, and then make the changes''

@constantin.stroescu: It's not even necessary to unpin. The material is a type property. Select one and modify it's material and all the panels of that type will adopt the same modification. However, unpinning a curtain panel will allow you to replace its type with another.

You are right if you are speaking about Wall By Face.

But as I understood from the Subject title ,it was about Curtain System (by Face)....

@constantin.stroescu: Well in that case, I think I know the problem: there is no panel defined for the system. Define one and material will be available. I'm betting the OP's Curtain System does not current have any Panels pins. Instead he has "Edit in Place" as an option when he selects a Panel.

Hi, thanks for the replies.  I've changed it now to a wall by face.  Didn't realise you could click any face and make it a wall, even the top ( roof ) of my mass, Thought a wall was just that and the top surface would need to be a roof like in the normal way.  I was told a curtain wall would go all the way around the mass so that is why I went down that route.  The other reason for using curtain wall was to create panels of different sizes as the mass was going to be covered in corten steel so I wanted different size panels.  However, I have found an image which ( for the stage I am at ) will be good enough for now and used that as the material image and done wall by face all the way around my mass.  Thing is, graphically it acting weird.  I have attached my mass to see if the same thing happens on other peoples PC's.  When you zoom in/out what is on each face changes to a weird grey sort of hatch.  If you do the wall by face command to the left hand face it adds the material with some bits missing.  Rendering makes no real difference, it has areas that are missing.

Is this something I'm doing wrong?

Also, if you look at the rear face ( opposite the window ) the image doesn't line up with what is on the roof, how do I get it to?

the weird grey hatch appears because the mass face interacts with the wall face being in the same position.

Simple :Hide the Mass element -anyway  you don't need to show it in your final project 

or swap the position line of the wall placement ( interior<>exterior)

As about the difference of the Curtain System and Wall By Face ( Curtain Wall) ...The Curtain System is more appropriate to make non vertical curved surfaces ( tab and ruled surface)
