CTRL Drag to copy shortcut

I tend to use the CTRL+mouse drag to copy elements a lot. Just force of habit coming from other platforms. Lately in Revit 2023.1 I've realized that I've been losing keynotes as an example when I use the CTRL+Drag command. I was finally able to recreate the issue. When you CTRL+mouse drag Copy and then use the scroll button to pan outside that area you lose the original element or keynote in this case. I know it did not use to happen before. See Video below. Hopefully it makes sense.

I have to say, this is a workflow I haven't used. I just tried to CTRL+Drag and then scroll at the same time. I tried using middle mouse click to pan while holding the left-click for the drag. The pan didn't even activate. So, I don't even know how you're doing this much less why it's dropping the copy operation when you do it. 😄

I use CTRL+Drag to copy a thousand times a day as well. But I usually just drag it over a bit, drop it, and then drag the copy where I need it. But, I understand muscle memory is a hard thing to retrain.

Sorry. No answer. I was more intrigued on the how you were even doing that. 😄

Hi,

Can you send the family you are using? Trying to recreate the issue.

This hits it right in the head! I think it is just a workflow I have to get used ut. CTRL+ Drag copy to a close by location then move to its correct place. Yes, CTRL+Drag Copy as you are panning makes it quick to drop items like repetitive keynotes or families as well. I don't have a specific family to share as it happens with every component, but you can try it with a revit tree component.
