Creating recessed window

Hello folks! Let's begin with a disclaimer. My EE status is not from using Revit. I am a noob on this board. 🙂

That being said I was hoping to get some input on the best way to model the window shown in the attachment for a new family. I am thinking that the recess at the bottom of the window should be part of the wall opening because I do not think Revit will edit the wall for this family...Your thoughts?

Also how do I transition from the large outer opening to the smaller interioir opening in the basic modeling of the part?

Place a Void in the family. Then make sure to use Cut Geometry in the family to cut the "host" wall. Also check "cuts with voids" in Family Types. Save. Load into Project. Place the family into a wall. It should now cut the wall.

In window family , replace the Opening with an Extruded Void.

I have attached a rough family made about your description...

Thank you both for the replies. Kudos to all! Constantin, thank you for the sample. That makes things much easier for me to decipher.

with pleasure!

I made a screencast when I created that family...maybe can be usefull even it is a rough capture....the process of the screencast was too slow so I gave up to attach it in my first post...
