creating dormner with face flush with wall below

Hello,

I am looking for help on how to create dormer similar to the attached image. I understand how to create a dormer when it sits farther back on the main roof, but I am not able to create one when the main wall continues up to form the face of the dormer.  Can anyone help?

Thank you.

Hello Paula,

It is not very clear for me what exactly you want..

Is it something like this?

I'm equally confused. The dormer tool is used to cut a hole in the roof that is below another roof (a dormer roof). In other words, the tool is used when you're working with 2 roofs; on overlapping the other. Your picture shows 1 monolithic roof; there is no dormer condition here. If you want 2 roofs sharing the same exterior wall, but with one located at a higher plate height, then model 2 different roofs on 2 different plate heights (e.g. wall heights). Then use your dormer tool.

I think I understood wrong,  and you want , in fact, a Flush Dormer...something like this:

YES! Thank you! I have been spending the last 10 years butchering my roofs trying to get this to work.
