Creating a void or opening in stairs

I'd like to make a diagonal void/opening in this staircase as it is positioned over a building. I have tried to use Generic Model Void and Opening and it will not select the stairs.

Hi,

Unfortunately I do not think that stairs in Revit can be cutted , by shaft opening nor by any other opening nor by generic model family.

but as a work around ,

you can create the whole geometry as an inplace family but then it doesn't behave as a stair so changes to levels, addition of a stair part, cut lines etc don't work as they do with other stairs in the project.

you  can also make it as 3 separated stairs beside each other.

I wish I would help,

@Anonymous hello, it's better to use stair by sketch to control opening rather than using stair by component. thanks

Hi , how will you create the opening that will cut the stair by sketch?

You can create an opening in the staircase by dividing the stair into several runs.

On each side of the opening you place/draw a new run, making sure the relative base height of both runs is the same.

@Anonymous Hello, I didn't say that you can create an opening by using a stair by sketch in my posted suggestion. What I'm trying to say is to avoid the opening when you use a stair by sketch. Thanks
