Create topography from 3D survey CAD

Hi all

I have a survey that results an uneven topography. the points on the plan view shows a gentle slope across the site but the points in the 3D layer are jumping up and down. I have used the "create from import" and choose the "level" level from the CAD. the result is clearly not right as per screen shot below. I suspect the survey points were not correctly modelled in 3D space.

is there a better way to create the topo without manually input each point?

I have attached the revit file with the CAD imported. you can delete the topography.

When you create a Toposurface from an Import Instance, you should deselect (uncheck) all the layers that do not contain 3D Polylines that represent the Topography.  If you are not sure what Layers to translate, open the DWG and ID the Polylines to see what Layers they are on.  Those are the only Layers that translate into a Revit Toposurface.

FWIW: I opened your RVT and inspected the DWG and found no information to translate for topography. The 3D linework I see are on Layers named "Tree", "Fence" and "Roof Detail".

The DWG shows exactly the same level markers in 3D space.

I guess I should use this survey plan as 2D info only and look for a way to convert the cross hair with RL into point cloud

Point Cloud? Huh?  That doesn't make any sense.  What you need is to create a Revit Toposurface is 3D data (x,y,z) for the contours. This data can be extracted from CAD Import Instance, or a CSV or TXT file.  Do you have a 3D CAD survey? If so, you can Import that one into Revit or use DATAEXTRACTION in AutoCAD to extract the x,y,z coordinates to a CSV or TXT file.

...Ah! I think you are confusing POINT CLOUD and POINT FILE. The Point File method is what I'm talking about above.
