Create new parameter that can be unique for each object of a family?

Hi,

I am working on the window schedule for a project, and am having difficulty with something. Basically we want to have a column in our window schedule called 'remarks' that is a text parameter where we can type custom remarks for each/any window in the schedule. I tried making a new shared parameter called 'remarks' and was successful, but it only allows for the same one comment for each instance of the same family type, when ideally what we want is to have it be unique for every window, even if it's the same window type as others in the project.

I know what you might be thinking - Why don't I just use the 'comments' parameter that is already in Revit by default? Well the answer for that is because right now we are using the comments parameter to create a V/G override (to get the windows to have the right lineweight in plan), so all of the windows already have their comment section filled and I can't change that. In the long term it would probably be better to change the V/G override trigger to a different parameter than comments, which then frees up the comments parameter for unique remarks, what I am trying to get. But in the short term for this project right now, I think it will take too long to change all our templates, and it should be easier/quicker just to create a new parameter, as long as it is possible to create a parameter which can be uniquely edited per instance, which is where you hopefully come in.

I hope that's clear enough to understand, but please feel free to ask any questions if you need more information.

If it's just for scheduling, not tagging, then no need for a shared parameter.  Create Remarks as Instance project parameter and assign it to Windows category.

@ToanDN  -  I know, if you read the bold "I know what you might be thinking" section, I explained why I can't currently use 'comments'.

EDIT to your edit: Ahhh, instance parameter, not type parameter! That's what I was missing. Thank you very much!
