Create COBie Space

I need to build a Revit model of a Quay (as in a piece of infrastructure to moor ships against) and the client has requested a COBie file. There is lots of maintainable equipment on the quay so its not as strange as it might sound. I can see how to use the BIM Interoperability Tools to get a COBie file where i have rooms from which to get COBie spaces but how can i make my whole quay (or parts of the quay) export as COBie spaces?

Thanks in advance.

This feels more like a Revit Rooms and/or Spaces question than a COBie question. The COBie Extension relies on Revit Room and/or Space elements for the COBie spaces.

I would suggest diving into Revit Rooms. I am not familiar with Quays, but you might need to set some of your Walls to not be Room Bounding and rely on a lot of Room Separation Lines.

Room Separation Lines. Smart.  I think you nailed it.

Have a good quay.  😊

Thanks for the reply - I believe this will work. I would prefer to create spaces rather than rooms (although i guess it doesnt really make a difference if both spaces and rooms export to 'Space' in both IFC and COBie). If I use space separation lines i can sub-divide the quay into operational areas where there are no walls dividing it up. Thanks again!
