Create a parametric Title-block with Tick Box

Hello everyone !

Our agancy is currently migrating from AutoCAd to Revit, so we are now creating Agency Title-Block.

When still working on AutoCAD we used to have a Parametric Block in our Title Block to "tick the box" of the current project phase (Schematic Design, Design Delpmt, Construction Doc, Agency Permit, Construction... but since we are a French Agency it's translated by ESQ, APS, PC,...).CaptureTitle-Block.PNG

on this example, it's an Construction Document, so the last "tick box" is filled)

This way on AutoCAD, the drawer just had to select the phase in the object attribution to show or not the "filed region" in the box:CaptureTitle-Block2.png

We wanted to have a similar display on our Revit Title-Block, do you know a way to create such parametric display ?

I hope my request is clear enought ^^

You need to set up Shared Parameters for Sheets, and perhaps Project Parameters as well.

Take a look here:

Don't know how to do it with dropbown menu but you could include checkboxes for each phase you want - it might be even better when more than one option is applicable. Create a filled region and create visibility parameter for it.

Capture.PNG

Set as instance parameter and select whatever groupping you want it to appear in properties pane of title block. Load it back to the model.

Now when you select the title block you can see new parameter controlling visibility of the object. Simply create one parameter per "checkbox" you wanted and there you go. As I said - this will let you select more than one option which depending on perspective might be good or bad. Someone else would have to tell us how to do it with dropdown menu.

Mind you - this will only work as per sheet visual solution, not global project parameter.

Use an instance Title Block parameter. This parameter can have a drop-down list just like you wanted. You need to nest a generic annotation family into the title block family and use a "Family and Type" parameter. I made a screencast and its uploading. In the meantime, take a look at this project sample, open a sheet, select the title block and look for the parameter called "Phase".

Not sure if an instance parameter for this would be the best solution. I am not the OP but I am just imagining I would want to set this as a type parameter. Set once of ALL title blocks.

It could be done by instance which might be ok if the drawing set was 10 sheets, sure. 300 sheets???  Instance parameter for this starts to not be super great.

Hmm, yes, I so pose type param would be better.

That actually depends - if different sheets need to be set for different phases then instance is better solution. If the whole project is a subject to change then not so.

True. Again, I am not the OP, so I don't really know. In my experience, I would not have different sheets in a set that are in different phases, but that is just me.  Only the OP really knows exactly what the use case is.

Now that I carefully read her description I see that she is interested in the "project phase" (not revit phasing). They probably duplicate the file, rename and change it according to the new documentation phase
