Create a Family void sensitive (recognize windows, doors, ...)

Hi all,

First of all I'm a revit beginner and I'm using Revit LT.

Said this, I have to insert a cladding in the model that can automatically cut itself when it encounters a door or a window.

I saw that I could create a new wall with the desired thickness and height, leaning against the existing wall. Unfortunately this solution creates several problems for me:

- I cannot insert it in the wall protection schedule (because wall and not family);

- I struggle to represent it in the dedicated table (I have to redraw the position of this cladding with detail lines).
Do you have any ideas?
Thank you!

Micky

Create a wall schedule and filter by type name so that you can have only cladding walls.

- I struggle to represent it in the dedicated table (I have to redraw the position of this cladding with detail lines).

Duplicate the view, select the cladding walls and Isolate elements in view (sunglasses icon @ bottom of your screen), apply it permanently in view then you will have a view with just cladding walls to annotate.  If you upgrade to full Revit then you can select cladding walls and create Assembly.

Thanks for the reply, but this solution solves part of the problem.

The schedule (room data sheet) must include other items (all generic models) in addition to this coating. Parameters to be entered are, therefore, not specific to the walls but are information (code and description) defined by the office.

Is this "Room Data Sheet" a Material Takeoff Schedule?

You can add the same parameters used for generic models category to walls category and enter information.  Format the schedules so that they appear identical, then place them on the same sheet.

If you insist on not using walls, but generic model family, then you can:

- replace Opening Cut in door/window families with voids

- DO NOT cut the host wall the family with the voids

- set the family to Cut with Voids when loaded

- Use Cut geometry manually to cut the wall and the generic model in the project with door/window family
