COPY/PASTE Text does not work

Hi,

I am not sure if this is a bug in Revit 2023 but when I try to copy paste text within Revit, can be from View Title to Title on sheet or from one family parameter to another, it will not paste the text in. If I restart Revit, it will work for a bit and then stop working again. I have tried both the Ctrl+C command and right clicking and neither works. When I copy paste anywhere else in Windows it's fine, but Not when I want to paste from word into Revit.

I know there was a bug fix in 2021 + 2022, but I am using 2023.1.

Any ideas?

Check Clipboard access.

Windows Settings:

a. Open Settings: Press the Windows key on your keyboard, then click on the gear icon (Settings) in the Start menu.

b. Privacy: In the Settings window, click on "Privacy."

c. Clipboard: In the left sidebar, select "Clipboard."

d. Clipboard History: Ensure that the "Clipboard history" toggle is turned on. This allows Windows to store multiple items in the clipboard.

Except from https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/keyboard-manager

You can exchange shortcut key combinations. For example: The shortcut key Ctrl+C will copy text in many applications. With PowerToys Keyboard Manager utility, you can swap that shortcut for ⊞ Win+C. Now, ⊞ Win+C will copy text. If you do not specify a targeted application in PowerToys Keyboard Manager, the shortcut exchange will be applied globally across Windows.

PowerToys Keyboard Manager must be enabled (with PowerToys running in the background) for remapped keys and shortcuts to be applied. If PowerToys is not running, key remapping will no longer be applied.

YOU'RE A GENIUS! That worked, for now at least. Will see if this lasts as rebooting my Revit also works for a little while. 😉

Thanks!

Well that lasted me about an hour 😉
The issue is back. I just went back and toggled it on/off and it's working again. But very frustrating, is this a computer or Revit bug?

There might be one of these two issues, Antivirus and security softwares, and Group Policies. ( if its managed by your IT department, then you should check with them.

  1. Antivirus and Security Software:

If you have third-party antivirus or security software installed, it's possible that they could interfere with clipboard operations. Check the settings of your security software and ensure that clipboard access is not restricted.

  2. Group Policy Settings (Advanced):

If you're using a professional version of Windows, you can also manage clipboard access through Group Policy:

    a. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box. b. Type gpedit.msc and press Enter to open the Local Group Policy Editor. c. Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Ctrl+Alt+Del Options. d. Find the policy "Remove clipboard redirection" and make sure it's set to "Not Configured" or "Disabled."

cheers.
