Created linework and a masking region in a front view and want to copy past in "Left" elevation view of family, but getting error message. I have detached it from it's work plane, but whenever i go to the left elevation view and paste it, it pastes it back into the front view. Why?

Copy paste it to a detail family and place the family in different views.

I'm trying to embed it in the generic family so whenever I place it in my model, the detail lines show in any elevation view and not the imported 3D model.

Is there no way to copy paste detail lines between elevation views ina family? This is ridiculous.

When I try to paste the masking region into a detail family I get this message...

Edit the region, copyclip the lines.  Create a detail family, create a region, paste the lines to create the boundary.

Thanks I remembered that's the trick. Just a shame the families don't treat the elevation views as true drawing fields.

very time consuming.  might as well just redraw it.  not much use in your method.

does not work.  I created masks in a 3d family.  cannot past to detail family (say cannot paste a 3d item ot 2d, i thought masks were 2d, isnt that the point).  cannot paste to side view from view of the same family.

Your comment indicates you, unlike OP, did not understand the solution at all.  Good luck redrawing.
