Controlling yes/no parameters with family type parameter?

Hi,

I am trying to control a long list of yes/no parameters that are setting the visibility of a number of custom grid layouts in a titleblock. I have made the Grids nested Gen Anno families and would rather have a pulldown in the titleblock properties rather than a long list of check boxes that you would have to check and uncheck. I have tried a number of formulas to no avail. Attached is a sample screenshot of a more simple version. tiaAnnotation 2020-07-01 184933.jpg

Grid Guides?  Several Grid Guide Types wouldn't work for you?

Accepted solution
  1. Create some different Grid (can be different types or different families) and load them into your title block.
  2. Place one of the Grids (Generic Annotation) in your title block, select it and click the Label dropdown menu and Add Parameter.
  3. Load your title block into your project and it is ready to use.

@barthbradley Unfortunately, this is out of my control as the directors want a more specific custom grid than what guide grids can provide. I always thought the guide grid designs could be more customized but alas nothing for 2021.

@bin Thanks that does work as I just made grid types in one family, however if I have other Gen Anno families loaded into the titleblock, is there a way to filter out other families from the dropdown?

If you use Family type parameter already then why you even need yes/no? Just create the grid configurations as different types in the gen anno family, or as different anno families, then nest in the TB family and use the dropdown to switch.

You could also use different legends with reference planes as guide grids placed on the sheet...

@ToanDN  Yes this is what ended up doing as mentioned with a previous reply, for some reason I was getting this error when linking the label. I was able to finally get it to work. thanks!

@martijn_pater This is what we had previously but talked to a few people at larger firms and everyone seemed to build them into  their titleblocks. thanks

Hi

I want to do the same with ironmogery in door family. I have different types of handle and want to put text family which describes choice in FamilyType, but i cant'.

For example

I have handle, knob, vertical catch

I want to pick knob, and there should be possibility to insert text paramater "door handle type-knob" that appears when know family is picked from drop-down list.

I tried different if statement but it doesn't recognize what i want to do.

Somebody has a solution?
