CONTOL C CONTROL V PASTE TO SAME LOCATION

Okay so I just have to ask, I have found this elsewhere but the answers are just not there and I want to have a fresh direct and straight forward question:

I have control C  done copied the text or annotation

I now want to quickly control V in a new view

when I do that it shows a ghost position of the position in the other view

Now I want to drop it in exactly the same position

there is no way of doing this - if I zoom and left click I can get it close but that all seems like more work and does not get it exactly to the same position

yes I know I can - modify - paste - to same location but when doing this often thats too many steps

I wouldnt ask but it seems that as it shows the ghost position - surely this means that there is a click that will automatically drop it where I can see it wants to go. Like I read someone else say 'its like its teasing you on the position but you can't really get it perfectly there'

thanks

Darren

I didn't know it was broken. Why don't you try it out and report back with your findings?

As @ToanDN said earlier and was accepted as the solution, just make a keyboard shortcut in Revit for the paste aligned.

No well as stated before the issue is not can we do a keyboard shortcut or use paste and align to the same place. The actual issue is that when you use your mouse only, click on a text on one sheet control+ c and then go to the next sheet and then control v, there is a ghost position for the placement of the text in the same place but it sticks to the cursor so you can move it around until you left mouse click and then it drops. However, it does not just drop in the position of its origin, it drops where you hold the mouse cursor which is always going to greatly or slightly different no matter how close you try and get it. now yes you can short cut the keyboard or paste and drop aligned etc. but it just seems so weird that when that little ghost position shows up you cant just mouse it to exact position. it seems like a little thing but I paste so much stuff like this and it would save me additional keyboard actions. I thought they addressed it for 2026 - the ideas previously shown here don't work. pressing 0 or control V and 0 etc. don't work for me.

if you want to check what I mean see my previous posts in this thread for the diagrammatic explanation

hmunsell I understand this and appreciate it. but this is not what I mean. its the ghost position on the mouse and just let me drop in from the mouse cursor in its exact position. its just so weird that it shows you the position but no quick drop action

Ctrl+V is a Windows command. I don't think that you are going to get a better explanation without talking to programmers.

What about in section views?

From my experience, there is no way to use any of the paste features without using the cursor to place. the ghost/imaginary boundary box shows up but not much you can do with it other than manually reference it.

These don't work well in sections.

Who are you asking?

Also, you might want to offer up a bit more explanation as to what you are asking about sections.
