Combining Family Types

Is there anyway of combining two separate families, that are the same type?

My situation example-

I created a Kitchen Type A family with sub category of L Shape, and later instead of going to edit type and duplicating the family and renaming it to Short I created another family called Kitchen Type B. So now I have under families, Kitchen Type A (sub category- L shape) and Kitchen Type B ( sub category- short) and I'm trying to combine them so I have Kitchen (sub category L shape and short) 

----similar to a refrigerator family have sub categories of (24x25 LH, 24X25 RH, 30X32 LH, 30X32RH, ETC).

Its not that big of an issue, I just would like to know if some fix is possible.

You can do it manually.  Edit new types to Family A that match the ones in Family B.  Right click on a Type of family B from browser, select all in project, and change them to the matching Type of Family A.  Rinse and repeat.
