Color Scheme Edits Won't Apply

Working in Revit 2021.1.2

When trying to make edits to a plan color scheme through the "Edit Color Scheme" editor, having difficulty with Revit actually recognizing my changes. I found a post from Autodesk saying this had been fixed in Revit 2021 and that hitting OK in previous versions (vs. just hitting apply) fixed the issue. I have found this not to be the case for myself.

I have included a Screencast showing this inconstancy. 

I have seemed to find a work around by selecting a pre-defined color first before applying a custom color, but haven't experimented enough to know if this consistently fixes the issue or not. A computer reboot has not fixed the issue for me.

Was curious if Autodesk is aware this is still a problem and if there is a fix.

I'm not sure I understand your question. What do you mean by previous plot? I have switched and opened other views, but when I come back to the colored plan, the colors are still not applied properly.

The problem only is in that specified view, because I got the same problem in 2020 version but when I printed that view there was not changes too. I fixed reinstalling the update. So you can try it again downloading from web site.

Thanks for the reply. This just came up for me today so I don't have any more information then what I posted (haven't printed or seen this issue on other views). Since it eventually started working, I am not going to go through the hassle of reinstalling Revit at this point.

There is a lot going on in this. One being that I am working on a parent view with multiple dependent views. Also there are a number of different floor levels so the view is divided up with different Plan Regions. Finally, I am selecting a color from a preset custom color. Not sure if any one of those things is triggering this (I probably should have mentioned all that in the initial post). Anyways, as much as I love trouble shooting Autodesk's software, they don't pay me so I have to get back to being productive in lieu of seeing if I can't find a solution. 

Was hoping for a quick fix, but if there isn't one, I'll keep on keeping on. Thanks again!

I ran into this issue when I have more than a few colors in the scheme. What I usually fix it is having a master file with all the predefined color schemes and transfer project standards to the working file.

This issue exist in older version Revit. I've seen these issue popup in Revit 17, 18 and 19. Typically my work around is to set the color scheme to none and then re-select the color scheme to make it update. It is annoying but only way to get around the issue.

I followed the same trail you did through the Autodesk answer, and thank you for your work around: selecting a pre-defined color first before applying a custom color. That seems to work sometimes for colors that will not apply. I have also noticed that after changing a few and moving on to some others, the previous group sometimes reverts back to the default color at some point between applying and ok'ing.

Some background: my color scheme is applied through a template. I am currently using Revit 2022, but have had this issue in previous versions of Revit as well. 

My current process that seems to be working (and sticking) at the moment: 

1. Select new color, click apply.

2. If color changed correctly, click ok. Go back in to the Edit Color Scheme to change next color.

3. If color didn't change correctly, try preset or custom color (whichever one wasn't tried before).

4. Repeat steps 2 & 3.

This process takes a long time if you have a large model and/or lots of colors to change (ahem, next version please make being able to toggle between easter colors and bright colors available), but better than redoing work or giving up at this moment.

It almost seems that if a color isn't able to be changed, it messes up all the following changes that you try. Exit out of all dialogues and then go back in and try again from the beginning doing the method above. Right now, I'm on a streak using number 1 and 2 above without things reverting.

I could not get this method to work for me. That might be my own user error though. But, I found that duplicating the Scheme and replacing the Scheme the sheet with the duplicate solved the problem. This may be cumbersome if you have the same color legend on lots of sheets.

1-Click the legend

2-edit the scheme

3-In the lower left, COPY the scheme to a new name. 

4- Change a color and hit ok.

The new scheme usually works.  I even ran an audit first, but that wont fix a corrupted color legend.

I tried the suggested solution. Unfortunately, it doesn't work for me. I fixed the problem by deleting the corrupted Color Scheme and creating a new one with the same name.
