Color Fill Legend has grey background in swatch

I am using revit 2016 and have a color fill legend that I am using as a floor finish key which is linked to the flooring in my drawing. The swatches in the Color Fill Legend are showing up with a Grey solid fill pattern even though I have different fill patterns selected (which are a grey color). When I changed one of the fill patterns to black it shows up on top of the solid grey fill. When I select the Color Fill Legend I can see the fill patterns. Is there a way to add a background to the fill patterns for the Color Schemes in Revit? Please see attached screenshots

I found the issue. The graphic display options was set to Consist Colors instead of hidden line.

But this still does not explain why the bacground is gray?

What if i want my walls to be consistent colors in the drawing?

I recon this is just lazy coding from Autodesk's side...
