collect all types of window from all projects inside the family

Hi, I have different types of a window family in different projects, how could I collect all types of the window inside the family, hence each time I load it has all types.

Edit the family and make sure all the types are created....save into a company library.  If you use the same family often load it into your company template.

The problem is, I am not sure which types I would need it, and it happens inside the projects.

Are you meaning that you want to bring into the current project, windows from another project? You could try loading the project as a group (Insert:Load as Group).

No, I need window family which has all types that I used in different projects.

Do the same thing with the family: save it out to another folder. It'll bring all the components as well. Group then turn it into a link.

- Open Project 1, edit the family from Project 1, load in Current Project, close family and Project 1

- Open Project 2, edit the family from Project 2, load in Current Project, close family and Project 2

...

- Open Project n, edit the family from Project n, load in Current Project, close family and Project n

This will bring all types of the family from projects 1 to n in Current Project.

Sorry I don't know of any quicker ways.

ToanDN has offered the best solution.

Otherwise you will have to manually recreate each desired type in the Family Editor.

If the number of types is high, you might be ready to learn about Revit's Type Catalog funtionality.

Toan, I already have lots of projects which include lots of types of the window. In this case, I should go inside the families and recreate the types. Thanks for help

@Anonymous are you saying that you defined new and different window types within several Projects (e.g. Edit:Duplicate), and that you want to consolidate them all into one? Sounds like you need only to create a TYPE CATELOG for the family. That might be the easiest solution. Just a thought.

I agree with @barthbradley.

Type catalog is the most organized approach.  Pick the family with the most types, export it to a Type Catalog text file.  Go back to the family and delete the types, all of them.  Save the text file and the family file in the same folder.  You can add more types by editing the text file in Notepad or Excel.  When load the family in projects, use Insert > Load Family instead of opening it and Load.
